Another day, another Wordle. The viral word puzzler isn’t the most popular word game out there anymore (I think that goes to the perennial favorite, the New York Times Crossword, followed by Connections) but it’s still going strong and so my daily Wordle column/guide continues.
It’s Friday (huzzah!) which means those of us playing Competitive Wordle get 2XP on all wins and losses.
It also means the new Wonka movie is out, as is the new season of Reacher on Amazon Prime. So much to see these days! I just went to The Boy and the Heron, the latest film from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, and it was terrific! You can read my review here.

Wordle Bot Analysis
After each Wordle I solve I head over to the Wordle Bot homepage to see how my guessing game was.
I started things off right today, clearly, with the word chore which is a lot more fun as an opening Wordle guess than as an activity, though lord knows I spend an ungodly amount of time on chores! Don’t we all!
Plain was an attempt to get more letters by guessing all new ones for my second guess, which is a risky bet. I was tempted to guess bacon because, well, yummy! But I figured there were too many possible locations for the ‘C’ and the ‘O’ still so I might as well guess new letters.
This was a smart move—unlike eating bacon—and left me with just two options to choose from that I could come up with: topic or optic. It was a coin toss and I guessed correctly!
Today’s Competitive Wordle Score
I get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 points for tying Wordle Bot. Double that for 2XP Friday for a grand total of 2 points—the most I’ve gotten in a hot minute! Huzzah!
