Today's Wordle Word Of The Day #403 Hint And Answer, Wednesday July 27th

Another day, another Wordle. The viral word-puzzle game has been trickier than usual lately, which has actually been kind of fun. Too many people bailed on their daily Wordle dose and now they’re missing out on some of the best words we’ve had since this thing began.

If you’re still going strong like your humble narrator, doing a Wordle a day to keep the doctor away, you’ll have noticed that the words lately are trending a bit more challenging, but that just hones our skills.

Today’s is no exception. Let’s take a look!

Today’s Wordle #403 Hint & Answer

As always—you guessed it!—spoiler warning!

The hint: If you want people to know what you’re about, in brief, having one of these for you or your group or institution is useful shorthand.

The answer . . . .

Pretty tough word, right?

We keep getting words with only one vowel, but used multiple times in weird and surprising ways. This one has two doubles! One double vowel and one double consonant!

In any case, while my starting word left much to be desired, it’s still better than crane would have been—Wordle Bot’s perennial favorite. My next two guesses—gaunt and chiro—were designed to rule out all the rest of the vowels I could, and sure enough only ‘O’ made the cut.

(P.S. I had no clue that chiro would even work here, but it did and it knocked out even more letters, leaving me with very few to choose from).

I had to think for quite a while before I figured out the final answer: motto. But hey, that works for me! What’s the motto with you?

What do you think?
