Today’s Wordle #931 Hints, Clues And Answer For Saturday, January 6th 2024

It’s January 6th, the very first Saturday of the year, which probably means we should celebrate or something. Or buckle down on our New Year’s resolutions and resist temptation!

I’m off to a reasonably decent start in that regard. I’m eating pretty healthily—mostly plants, though I had various non-plant items in my fridge and pantry that I’ve been going through. The goal is to ease into a more plant-based diet, get lots of exercise and just generally be healthy in mind and body. The reward for this is just generally feeling pretty good most of the time, though I’ve had an inordinate amount of neck tension lately, and the snow and cold threw off my workout routine a bit.

In any case, it’s Saturday so let’s do this Wordle and get back to vegging out!

How To Solve Today’s Word

The Hint: Jim Carrey wanted to kill “the baby-sitter” in this movie.

Wordle Bot Analysis

After each Wordle I solve I head over to the Wordle Bot homepage to see how my guessing game was.

Pretty lucky today, obviously. I rarely eat peaches (more’s the pity) but I did earlier and it occurred to me what a peachy-keen starting guess peach would make. It was pretty good, though not great, leaving me with three yellow boxes. I learned later that I still had 39 remaining words to choose from.

For whatever reason, cable was the first thing that popped into my head when I started unscrambling the letters. I figured, with three yellow boxes I might as well try to get them into new slots rather than pick all new letters especially since I had two vowels already.

I had no idea how lucky I was until every box turned over green. Huzzah!

Today’s Score

I wish this had been my guessing game on 2XP Friday! I get 2 points for guessing in two and 1 for beating the Bot, who took three. 3 points! HUZZAH!!!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The etymology of the word “cable” traces back to the Old French word “cable,” which is derived from the Latin word “capulum,” meaning “halter” or “noose.” This Latin term, in turn, comes from “capere,” which means “to take” or “to seize.” The transition from a term referring to a halter to one denoting a thick rope or wire is likely due to the similar uses in binding or fastening.

Over time, “cable” in English came to specifically refer to a thick, strong rope, especially one used on ships. In the modern era, the term further evolved to encompass various types of insulated wires or groups of wires used for transmission of electricity or telecommunication signals. This broader use reflects the technological advancements in communications and power transmission.
