Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

Well this did not go my way, did it? SPATE left me with a whopping 375 remaining words and zero yellow or grey boxes. BOINK slashed that down to 26, but with just one yellow box and not much else, I still didn’t have much to go on.

CLOUD changed all that. I now have three green boxes and could only come up with two possible solutions: CHORD and CROWD. Sadly, I chose CHORD.

Competitive Wordle Score

This one hurt. I get -1 for guessing in five and -1 for losing to the Bot, for a grand total of -2 points. Lame!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.

If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “crowd” originates from the Old English word “crūdan,” which means “to press, hasten, push.” This term evolved into Middle English as “crūden” or “crowden,” which maintained the sense of pressing or pushing together. By the late Middle Ages, the noun form “crowd” emerged, referring to a large number of people gathered together in a confined space. The root concept of pressing or pushing together remains evident in the modern use of the word to describe a dense collection of people.
