This is the deal Pixel 9 buyers have been waiting for. After slashing the price of the Pixel 9a for the first time and repeated discounts for the Pixel 9 Pro over the last few months, Google has now produced one of its best deals yet.
This is one of the U.K. Google Store’s more generous Pixel 9 discounts, dropping the price of the Pixel 9 by £200 ($269.86), bringing the final price down to £599 ($808.23), and the Pixel 9 Pro / XL by £300 ($404.79), bringing the price down to £699 ($943.16). The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is £350 ($472.26) cheaper, with a final price now at £1,399 ($1887.68).
The promotion is in aid of English soccer team Liverpool FC winning its 20th league title this season, but Google doesn’t need an excuse to drop prices for its phones. The Search company ramped up the frequency of its sales around half way through the lifecycle of the Pixel 8, launching new promotions almost monthly.
This new sale, however, is one of its biggest yet. Most other deals have focussed on knocking $150 and $200 off the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro respectively. The size of this discount represents how late in the cycle these phones are, with the Pixel 10 likely landing this August. After that, Pixel 9 prices will be in freefall.
Don’t Sleep On The Google Pixel 8 Pro

Buying last year’s phone has suddenly become a viable option because of Google and Samsung’s recent software support policy change. Both companies now offer seven years of promised Android updates and security patches. This means your Pixel 8 should be supported until 2030. I say “should” because I hold a small bit of skepticism about a company like Google continually updating a seven year-old-device when it famously ditches products suddenly and without notice.
If we take Google’s word for it, though, the Pixel 8 is worth considering if you’re looking for a new phone. It is decently repairable, with a score of 6 out of 10 according to iFixit, where parts and guides can be easily found.
The Pixel 8 has many of the Pixel 9’s features, including AI tools like Magic Editor, Best Take, and Video Boost (on the Pixel 8 Pro). Formerly exclusive Pixel 9 features, such as the Pixel Weather app, have now migrated over to the Pixel 8. Only the updated hardware separates the two phones (this is becoming increasingly the case for Pixel phones).
Finally, the Pixel 8 series is dirt cheap. Right now, you can pick up the Pixel 8 Pro for $449 on Amazon. These Pixel 9 discounts are the better deal at the moment, but when the price goes up again after May 31st—when the Google Store deal ends—the Pixel 8 price will stay low and continue to dip.
